Hi & welcome to my blog! My name is Kimberly. I am the owner/designer behind Southern Day Crochet!!
I began crocheting as a child. For several years, my passion for crochet lay dormant until I had my daughter Harper in 2013. I opened an online shop in 2014 selling primarily baby items. I ran my shop for 3 years and loved it! However, after relocating several times for my husband’s job I made the difficult decision to close shop so I could focus on my family. I didn’t want to stop crocheting altogether so I began blogging my patterns.
Because i grew up in the country and Matthew grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina, we both have a deep appreciation for nature. When I am not crocheting or crafting, I enjoy hiking, roadtrips and other outdoor activities with my family. My crochet is very much influenced by my love for nature. Early on I adopted the tagline, “Designed with Adventure in Mind.” I try to incorporate this phrase into each design. I strive to create simple, timeless patterns that are practical for outdoor adventures as well as the adventures of every day life. Being born and raised in the South taught me to take each day as they come, rushing nothing and enjoying everything, especially the simple things. I hope to convey this sentiment in each of my designs and patterns.
In September of 2018, Matthew, Harper, Daisy (the YorkiPoo) & I relocated from Alabama to Arizona. We’re currently living in a suburb of Phoenix and enjoying our experience in the “Wild West.” If you would like to follow our daily adventures you can find us at @southerndayadventures on Instagram as well as @southerndaycrochet , my crochet account.
I am so thrilled to have you all here and be able to share my crochet as well as bits and pieces of our daily lives!
-Kim
