Hi, everyone & welcome! This tutorial includes steps to make an oversized crochet bow. I have included patterns for micro, baby, small, medium and large bows! I hope you all enjoy!

*Photos were unfortunately deleted and will be added at a later date. I hope you find this helpful for now!

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn (I used I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby)
  • G hook, 4.25mm (Boye is my go-to hook)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Time: About 30 minutes

Stitches:

  • chain stitch
  • slip stitch
  • half double crochet, back loop only (HDC BLO)
*If you wish to have a bow without ridges, use HDC.

SMALL BOW:
The small bow is my “go to” bow. It works great on a hat, bonnet, nylon or a crochet headband. I also use this size for most ombrés, princess bows, ribbon, lace and burlap bows.
Chain 31
Join last stitch with first stitch by using a slip stitch.
Crochet 10 rounds of HDC BLO.
I do NOT chain one before going into the first stitch.
I work in a continuous round.
Slip stitch into last stitch to finish.
Sew in ends.

Pinch center, wrap yarn around center of the bow & tie together. Add to desired headband, clip, hat, bonnet or dress!

Weight:
13 grams/0.5 ounces
Measurements:
4″ W x 3.5″ H

BABY BOW:
The Baby Bow is a great size for new babes-12 months!
Chain 25
Join last stitch with first stitch by using a slip stitch.
Crochet 9 rounds of HDC BLO.
I do not chain one before going into the first stitch.
Slip stitch into last stitch to finish.
Sew in ends.
Pinch center, wrap yarn around center of the bow & tie together. Add to desired headband, clip, hat, bonnet or dress!
_______________
MICRO BOW:
The micro bow works great on clips or ponytail holders!
Chain 22
Join last stitch with first stitch using a slip stitch.
HDC, BLO 7 rounds.
I do not chain one before going into the first stitch.
Slip stitch into last stitch to finish.
Sew in ends.
Pinch center, wrap yarn around center of the bow & tie together. Add to desired headband, clip, hat, bonnet or dress!
______________
Medium & Large Bows:
Chain 35 for medium, 13 rounds of HDC, BLO
Chain 40 for large, 14 rounds of HDC, BLO
(Large bow is best attached to a crochet band vs. nylon, clip or elastic because of the weight of the bow.)

  3. This is seriously the cutest bow I’ve seen in a long time and I’ve been crocheting a long time! For the G hook – what mm do you use: 4.0, 4.25 or 4.5.
    Thank you so much,
    Ericka
